How do I get access?
Space Armada is preparing for release through Steam. The separate Steam Playtest will admit players in limited waves after review. Follow the beta page for dates and access announcements.
What does Playtest access include?
The Playtest is free. It gives access to a limited test and does not include ownership of the eventual full game. Full-game pricing and the release date are unannounced.
How do I install the game?
Once you have access, install Space Armada or Space Armada Playtest from your Steam library. They have separate saves. Let Steam finish the download and any updates before launching.
Which platforms are planned?
Windows and native Linux builds, including Steam Deck controls, are under release testing. macOS is being built and tested; it will be listed as supported after its signed build passes hardware checks. Steam Deck Verified status has not been awarded.
Which controls can I use?
Keyboard and mouse, Xbox-style controllers and Steam Deck controls have separate profiles. Open Settings, then Controls, to adjust sensitivity and mappings. The Academy shows the controls for your active input device.
Can I save and return later?
Single-player games can be paused and saved. Steam Cloud support is part of the beta release checks. Always allow a save to finish before exiting, and keep a backup of custom content during the beta.
How many players can join?
The chosen map and lobby determine the available slots. Larger fleets and more players increase hardware demands. Steam Deck currently recommends one opponent, with larger matches still under performance review. Read the multiplayer guide for hosting and joining.
Is AI campaign creation available?
ChatGPT-powered campaign and map creation is unavailable in the beta. It depends on OpenAI approving Space Armada for its commercial Sign in with ChatGPT and plan-usage program. Optional live ElevenLabs narration is also awaiting review of its provider-account and Steam billing arrangements. Approval and timing are not guaranteed. Included campaigns, narration and manual editors work without either account.
Can I play alone or cooperatively?
Yes. Play single-player skirmishes against AI or create a multiplayer match with friends on the same team against AI opponents. The Academy offers faction training, and Aderra: The Broken Peace provides a story campaign.
Is the campaign finished?
Aderra: The Broken Peace currently has forty missions. It is labeled beta and remains in development, so missions and balance may change.
Where should a new RTS player start?
Open the Academy from the game menu, choose a faction and follow its training. Then try an easy single-player skirmish. The beginner guide explains mining, construction, research and your first fleet.
